Every week, I see views on this blog and on several of my Bob Moose videos. I am glad to see it. Bob was a very good pitcher and had some good years with the Pirates. His tragic death on his 29th birthday definitely adds a sense of intrigue and sadness to his legacy. Bob had a noteworthy career: with Pirates 1967-1976; pitched a no-hitter; came the closest of anyone to pitching a no-hitter at Forbes Field; 1971 World series champion (appeared in several games and started Game 6 for a no-decision but pitched a whale of a game); threw the infamous wild pitch in the 1972 playoffs; led the Pirates in saves in 1976 and also hit his first and only home run; hometown success story from Export, PA (Franklin Regional High School); born 10/9/47- died 10/9/76 [will be 50 years ago this coming October]; widow and only child (daughter April, who has a son) still living + Bob's sister Debbie.
Bob Moose: my very first baseball card in 1974, playing for my beloved Pittsburgh Pirates; born 10/9/47...died 10/9/76; came closest of anyone to pitching no-hitter at Forbes Field (1968); Pirate rookie of the year 1968; pitched a no-hitter vs Mets 1969; led league in winning pct 1969; 1971 world series champ; threw wild pitch in October 1972 playoff game; led Pirates in saves in 1976.
